Custom Domain.
Connect your own domain to your MeshX Storefront โ free SSL included, no technical expertise required.
Why use a custom domain?
Every storefront gets a free yourname.meshx.store address. A custom domain lets you use your own brand URL instead โ e.g. shop.casualclassics.co.uk or www.mycoolshop.com.
- Builds brand trust โ customers see your domain, not MeshX's
- Better for SEO โ search engines index your domain
- Professional โ use on business cards, packaging, social media
Subdomain or root domain?
| Type | Example | DNS record |
|---|---|---|
| Subdomain (recommended) | shop.yourdomain.com | CNAME |
| Root domain | yourdomain.com | A record (or ALIAS/ANAME if supported) |
shop.yourdomain.com) unless you want the store on your bare domain. Subdomains are simpler to configure and don't interfere with email or other services on the root domain.Add the domain in MeshX
Go to Storefront โ Domain and enter your domain (e.g. shop.casualclassics.co.uk). Click Add domain.
MeshX will display the DNS record you need to create at your registrar:
Configure your DNS
Log in to your domain registrar (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, etc.) and add the DNS record shown in MeshX. The exact steps vary by provider, but the general process is:
- Go to DNS settings or Manage DNS for your domain
- Add a new record with the type, name, and value from MeshX
- Set TTL to Auto or 300 (5 minutes)
- Save
Verification & SSL
Back in MeshX, click Verify DNS. The system checks whether your DNS record is pointing correctly.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | DNS not yet propagated. Wait 5โ30 minutes and try again. |
| Verified | DNS is correct. SSL certificate is being provisioned (automatic, takes 1โ5 minutes). |
| Active | Domain is live with SSL. Your storefront is accessible at your custom domain. |
| Error | DNS record is incorrect or missing. Check the value and try again. |
Once the status shows Active, your custom domain is fully working. Both http:// and https:// are supported โ HTTP automatically redirects to HTTPS.
Changing or removing a domain
- Change domain โ remove the current one and add a new one. The old domain stops working immediately.
- Remove domain โ your storefront reverts to the
.meshx.storeaddress. Remove the DNS record at your registrar to keep things tidy. - Your
.meshx.storeaddress always works โ even with a custom domain connected, the original URL stays active as a fallback.
